Singing storyteller brings a musical tale for children to Sherwood
We have an event of imagination and wonder for children and their parents or carers later this month when storyteller and songwriter Brian Acton guides them through the ancient woodland of RSPB Sherwood Forest.
Through song, prose and poem, Brian will tell his story, ‘A New Leaf’ while leading listeners along Sherwood’s trails.
The story tells of an old forest which has become enchanted by the beauty of a new leaf – but is it what it seems? Or is there trouble ahead for the trees and wildlife of the ancient woodland?
Brian has performed at folk and jazz festivals across the UK, Europe and America, and comes to Sherwood for the first time on 31st May.
“When I wrote this story of ancient trees, and our connection to the wild woods, Sherwood was always in my mind,” said Brian
“I can’t wait to bring this tale, these songs, and this message to the charmed forest there.”
There will be two performances on the day, at 11am and 2pm, and the event is suitable for children aged 5 years old and above. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The event price of £8 is for a child and an adult attending together (£6.50 for RSPB members). It costs £5 for each additional adult (£4 for RSPB members).
