Car Park Permit Proforma Letter
The Parish Council has a responsibility to spend local council tax wisely.
As part of its regular review of costs, the Council is intending to cease the issuing of parking permits on a free-of-charge basis.
The cost of operating its car parks (council tax, maintenance, lighting etc) has to be budgeted for, and is therefore borne by all local council-tax payers.
The Council is committed to retaining free short-stay parking at each of its car parks as it is considered beneficial to local residents, visitors to our village, and traders alike.
However, the present practice of issuing free annual all-day permits will need to change and the Council proposes to continue to offer annual permits to traders at £50 per annum, each.
I’m sure you will agree that, at less than £1 per week, this represents superb value.
The Council considers that the retention of the permit scheme, albeit on a chargeable basis, to be reasonable and equitable to permit holders and to short-stay users of the car parks.
It is proposed to introduce this change from 1st July 2022
Further details of the amended permit scheme will be communicated once the scheme has been ratified at a meeting of the Parish Council.
The Council welcomes feedback and has arranged for three drop-in consultation sessions in the Village Hall:
Saturday 2nd April 2022 at 10.00am.
Monday 4th April 2022 at 6.00pm.
Wednesday 6th April 2022 at 10.00am.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact the Parish Council Clerk, should you need any clarification.
