Bowling Green Community Park Consultation
Edwinstowe Parish Council would like your views on a proposed new project for the village. As many of you will know the last of the bowling greens on Fourth Avenue has been unused for some considerable time since the village Bowling Club closed down. Efforts were made to find another club willing to play here and to maintain the green but without success. Since then this important village asset has been left vacant.
The Parish Council is proposing to make use of this site by creating a new Community Park here. Our aim is to develop this area into an attractive and welcoming green space with places to sit and accessible paths allowing wheelchair use. We want to plant with small trees, shrubs, low maintenance perennials and bulbs. If there is an interest, we could also offer beds for planting and maintaining to community groups and interested people from the village, including raised beds accessible to wheelchair users and others with mobility problems. We might also include other elements in future as new ideas and wishes emerge from the experiences of park and garden users.
We intend, eventually, to replace the old, now derelict, bowls pavilion with a building that will provide a small informal meeting room for community use, a rest room for gardeners, a tool and equipment store, and an accessible toilet.
We have had the offer of help to create a first design, which we would share as part of our consultation with you.
Please send us your views and comments on this first proposal by emailing the Parish Council at info@edwinstowe.co.uk, posting to us on the Edwinstowe in Bloom Facebook page or leaving written comments at the Parish Office.
We look forward to hearing from you.
